About

My name is Kalle Johansson. I am a self-taught painter, craftsman and all things art enthusiast. I have always liked drawing and crafting but in 2016 during my B.sc. studies I picked up painting for the first time. This quickly grew from a once-a-week regimen to a full-blown art studio that took over most of my apartment. After that, I have painted as much as possible on the side of studies, work and life. In autumn 2022 I got an opportunity to solely focus on painting for 7 months in Italy. This experience resulted in my first solo exhibition “Månskäran”. The exhibition was organized in August 2023 in Helsinki, Finland.

Currently, I mostly work with oil paints on canvas but my work/interests extend to sculpting, drawing, design, woodwork, and more. My works are mostly figurative, concentrating on the human figure and themes around the human condition. I am interested in trying to convey a narrative within my works while also experimenting with materials, textures and techniques. Much of my inspiration stems from music, books and events in my life.

Currently based in Helsinki, Finland, I am working on my next exhibition scheduled for 2024, taking on commissions, and engaging in various smaller projects.
